INSURANCE, REFERRALS & COPAYS
If you have medical insurance that requires a "referral" to a specialist, please contact your Primary Care Physician's office a few days prior to your appointment to make sure they have done the necessary referrals with your insurance company. If a doctor other than your primary care doctor has referred you to us, it is your responsibility to contact your primary care doctor to have them do the referral prior to your appointment. They will also need to fax a copy of the referral to our office before your appointment. This may happen if another specialist refers you here.
If we do not have any necessary referrals by the time of your appointment we will have to reschedule your visit.
It is also recommended that you call your insurance company for your insurance benefits prior to your appointment. This will let you know what your financial responsibility is going to be. We will collect your copay at the time of your visit so if you are unsure what your copay is, please call your insurance company before your appointment to verify the copay amount. Otherwise, it should be on your insurance card. If you have a large deductible we will require more than your copay at your first visit.
Our office will call your insurance company if you are scheduled for further testing after your initial visit, such as CT scan, or nuclear stress testing. Some carriers require preauthorization.
We are contracted with several insurance plans, but you should make sure your insurance is one of them by calling their customer service number and see if they have Dr. Vinson as a contracted provider.
We are not participating with Medicaid.
